Editing

Chapter six discusses editing. Editing is the last step of creating the film. In the older days, they used to have 10x the amount of film compared to what they actually use. Nowadays, there is 50 to 100x more footage than what will actually appear in the film. That is a lot of hours that goes into the editing because of all the footage that the editors must go through. Editing is where the grammar and syntax of cinematic language really comes together. The editors job is extremely important. this being the last step means it has to be perfect. This chapter explained the importance of this job. Without editing, there would be no film. Actors go through hundreds of shots each day and it is the editors job to use the best one and add all the extra effects to it. We ought to give more credit to editors for creating master piece films for us to watch.
